We launch the Madchester competition, give an update on forthcoming game changes and reveal the winners and rankings for the Class of 2007.

Current Competition

Today, Sunday (6th April), we launch the Madchester competition. Here is an extract from Wikipedia explaining what Madchester was all about.

Madchester was an alternative rock genre that developed in Manchester, England, at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s. The music that emerged from the scene mixed indie rock and dance music. Artists associated with the scene included The Stone Roses, the Happy Mondays, the Inspiral Carpets, 808 State, James, and The Charlatans. At that time, The Haçienda nightclub was a major catalyst for the distinctive musical ethos in the city that was called the Second Summer of Love.

To make it up to 10 artists for this artist bias competition I have also added some further Manchester bands. Here is the full list:

The Stone Roses
Happy Mondays
Inspiral Carpets
The Charlatans
James
Morrissey
The Verve
Black Grape
The Smiths
808 State

Madchesters hey day was actually quite short. The years in play this time are 1988 to 1990. Please note that if you select this range there will be no mystery year questions, you have to have at least a 5 year range to invoke this type of question.

So in order to win the competition you must get the highest number of Artist Bias points and use the 1988 to 1990 year range.

Best of luck.

Winners and Rankings

Now on to the top 10 rankings from Class of 2007

 1 ( 1 ) Stewart Lennox
 2 (Re) Paul Gilbert
 3 ( 2 ) Si Harris
 4 ( 4 ) Howie Ross
 5 (13) Michael Ward
 6 ( 5 ) Matthew Clegg
 7 (Re) Eve Taylor
 8 (NE) Bryan Oldham
 9 (12) Ali Berridge
10(Re) David Longstaff

Where Re is a Re-Entry (a player coming back into the top ten), and a NE is a New Entry (the first time that this player has made the top ten).

So Stewart is top of the rankings again, this time for a record breaking 17th time. He is ineligible for the prize this time but is back in play for Madchester.

So our winner is Paul Gilbert who makes a welcoming re-entry at number 2. Paul comes from Kent and this is his second main prize, he has also won 8 bonus prizes. Hopefully I should have some more bonus prizes for the Eurovision competition, so watch this space. Well done Paul.

Game News

The next release for the game will be the stopping of the game after level 8. This should be available for our next competition, Eurovision.
