We launch the Class of 2007 competition, reveal the winner of the 80s decade champions, talk about some new potential changes on the horizon and announce another competition.
Current Competition

The 2007 data is now available to play, so therefore from today (Sunday 16th March) we launch the class of 2007 competition. In the last newsletter I asked players to vote for their favourite 5 artists from the list of 26 artists that qualified for the 2007 special artist category questions. Here are the 10 in the order of most votes :
Rihanna Amy Winehouse Kaiser Chiefs Natasha Bedingfield Timbaland Arctic Monkeys Fratellis My Chemical Romance Maroon 5 James Blunt
Thanks very much to those of you who voted.
These 10 artists will be the ten artists in play, as Class of 2007 is an artist bias competition. In artist bias competitions you only get points when you get your specific artist questions correct. You need to get all 3 in the set of 3 correct on the highlighted artists and then you will get 1 Artist Bias point.
There is a also a prize years range and this is 2000 to 2007. You can select this by using the prize years button or the NEW 00s button.
In order to win the competition you must get the most artist bias points and have chosen the 2000 to 2007 prize year range.
Best of luck.
Winners and Rankings
Now on to the rankings from the 80s decade champions competition, top 10 below :
1 ( 1 ) Stewart Lennox 2 ( 5 ) Si Harris 3 ( 3 ) Kim Summers 4 ( 4 ) Howie Ross 5 (Re) Matthew Clegg 6 ( 8 ) Michael McCarthy 7 (17) Julie Lawrence 8 ( 2 ) Graham Mather 9 (Re) Phil Bugler 10(16) Richard Cox
Where Re means Re-entry, a former player coming back into the top 10.
Highest new entry is Samantha Hilton at number 17.
Stewart Lennox is top again for the 16th time, but is ineligible for the prize as he won two competitions ago (the 90s).
Si Harris from Derbyshire is the winner and gets his 7th main prize equalling Stewart Lennox, well done Si.
Steve Cann is back in play for the class of 2007.
Game News
We are currently at looking at stopping the game at level 8, once level 8 is completed we will give you points on how many lives you have left. We are also looking to bring back the bonus lives (2 per board), which is how the game used to work about 6 to 9 months ago. This will make it far more competitive.
Artist Bias competitions may change in future, by just giving you extra points for answering the Artist Bias artists, rather than running a separate count of points.
Competition Schedule
16/03/2008 - 05/04/2008 -- Class of 2007 06/04/2008 - 26/04/2008 -- Madchester & Manchester 27/04/2008 - 24/05/2008 -- Eurovision 25/05/2008 - 21/06/2008 -- Long Running Number 1s
Updating the next competition to include some more Manchester bands from that time, but not necessarily associated with the Madchester movement. Like Morrissey, The Smiths, The Verve, Black Grape and Electronic.
Introducing the long running number 1s competition, this will be another artist bias competition where all the acts featured had singles that stayed at number 1 for more than five weeks. Like Bryan Adams, Shakespears Sister, Rihanna, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Queen, Wings, Spice Girls etc.
