This time we launch the 80s competition, give you a chance to influence the choice of artists for the class of 2007, announce a new future competition and reveal the winner from the 70s competition.

Current Competition

Here it is, the most anticipated of our decade champions series, the 80s. This will be the last of the prize years competition for a while, before the artist bias competitions return.

The 80s went from the post-punk new romantics up until Stock Aitken and Waterman, and from jazz funk to house (Acid, Italio). Featuring artists like Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Level 42, Heaven 17, Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue and Yazz.

In order to win you must select the years (1980 to 1989) either from the prize years button or you can use the 80s button. This competition will run for 3 weeks up until 9th March.

Winners and Rankings

First of all a big apology. The results published last time did not feature the last day of play and so missed the bonus prize victory from Michael McCarthy, Michael won his 4th bonus prize. Unfortunately Howie Ross did not win a prize. For the full details including the renewed top 10 check out the revised previous newsletter, below.

So on to the 70s competition, here are the final top 10 rankings, please note these are the best 70s scores :

 1 ( 1 ) Stewart Lennox
 2 (Re) Graham Mather
 3 ( 3 ) Kim Summers
 4 ( 6 ) Howie Ross
 5 ( 2 ) Si Harris
 6 (12) Steve Cann
 7 (11) Vaughan Davies
 8 ( 4 ) Michael McCarthy
 9 ( 7 ) Michael Ward
10(Re) Lynne Arundell

Highest new entry was at number 14 for Kevan Turner.

Where Re is a Re-Entry (a player coming back into the top ten), and a NE is a New Entry (the first time that this player has made the top ten).

So Stewart is at the top again for a 15th time, but is ineligible for the main prize as he won last time.

So therefore Graham Mather from North Yorkshire wins his 2nd main prize, he has also won a bonus prize previously.

Kim Summers came third and is back in play for the 80s competition.

Game News

There have been some reports of locking in the game again, just when we thought the gremlins had gone. We are looking at this but as a work round, if you experience this, then disconnect your network cable, wait for the message Waiting on server to re-connect, stand-by, then re-connect the cable, and you should then be able to carry on.

Also to make this a little more interesting I have reduced the time a little on level 8, this should make the game a lot more competitive.
