We launch the first of our decade champions series, reveal the Christmas Number 1s winners and give more info on the class of 2007.

Current Competition

Today, Sunday 6th January, we take down our Christmas decorations, say goodbye to Christmas for another year. This also means, from an UltQuiz perspective, that we are leaving the artist bias competitions for a while and we welcome back the prize year competitions.

Starting with 60s, this will test whether you know your Beatles from your Rolling Stones, your Kinks from your Hollies or your Temptations from your Four Tops. You must select the years 1960 to 1969 (either use the 60s button, or the prize years on the year selection screen), and get the most points.

Best of luck.

Winners and Rankings

On to the winners and we have some new blood at the top, and the bonus prize goes to a former cash prize winner.

Here are the rankings.

 1 ( 3 ) Kim Summers
 2 ( 2 ) Stewart Lennox
 3 ( 1 ) Si Harris
 4 ( 6 ) Steve Cann
 5 (11) Michael McCarthy
 6 ( 5 ) Michael Hallows
 7 (NE) Ichi Yamanaka (Japan)
 8 (Re) Neil Morrison
 9 (16) Martin Todd
10(NE) Alan Smith

Where Re is a Re-entry (a former player coming back to the top 10), and NE is a New Entry (a new player joining UltQuiz).

Some interesting activities in this weeks top 10.

Looking further down the chart we have our 2nd international entry. After Philip Ward made the top ten from the United Arab Emirates for Its A Rap, we now have our second international top ten player this time from Japan, thanks to Ichi Yamanaka.

Now on to the winners and we have another new top ranking and cash prize winner, Kim Summers, he hails from Cheshire. Kim has been a member since October 2007 and this is his first prize. Kim is now the third person to top the rankings, since they started in April, the others being Stewart Lennox and Si Harris. Well done Kim.

Stewart came 2nd but is ineligible for the bonus prize because he won the first prize 3 competitions ago (Der Beat-Club). Please note Stewart is back in play for the 60s competition.

Si Harris came 3rd but is ineligible for the bonus prize because he won last time in the pop families competition.

So the bonus prize winner is Steve Cann from Berkshire and he wins the 101 Christmas Songs Quadruple CD.
This is Steves 2nd prize after winning the first prize for our first artist bias competition (The Beatles and The Stones) back in June 2007. Well done Steve.

Competition Schedule

From March we will have the 2007 data available and to celebrate this will do a 00s artist bias competition, featuring 10 artists that qualify this year for artist specific questions. In order for this an artist must have accrued 6 hits or more (as the main artist). I will announce these artists nearer the time, so watch this space.
