In This Edition

In this edition we launch the new Stock Aitken and Waterman competition, see who won the Best Freestyle Range Prize, give an update on the game freezing issues and reveal why it is all happening a day early this time.

Current Competition

Today, Saturday 13th October, we have started the Stock Aitken and Waterman competition. The way to win the top prize is to score the highest amount of artist bias points on the featured S. A. W. artists. SAW started with Hazell Dean and Divine in 1984 and had their first produced number 1 the following year with Dead or Alive You Spin Me Round (Like A Record), they went on to create the hit factory in the late 80s with Rick Astley, Sonia, Sinitta, Brother Beyond, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and also got established artists like Bananarama, Donna Summer and Cliff Richard to record under the SAW moniker. The last year they produced any records was the final SAW LP for Bananarama in 1993 called Please Yourself. So this is why the featured years are 1984 to 1993. The artists featured in the competition are :

Bananarama
Kylie Minogue
Jason Donovan
Dead or Alive
Sonia
Sinitta
Rick Astley
Hazell Dean
Brother Beyond
Donna Summer

The bonus prize is back as well this time. For the second placed player, with the featured years and who has not won a first prize in the last 2 months, will win the Stock Aitken and Waterman Gold triple CD.

See the prize page for further details. http://www.ultquiz.co.uk/prize.php

This competition was suggested by Howie Moss. If you have any ideas for new competitions then please reply to this newsletter.

Game News

Some good news this time. We have found a problem with the way that the quiz handled reissues and remixes and corrected this and this did definitely cause freezing. We have also deployed more detailed game logs so if any further problems arise we can track and identify them a lot quicker.

Other News

The reason for the change in time is because I am entering a team in a national pop quiz tomorrow. All 4 players will be players from this site (including myself). I will give an update in the next newsletter on how we got on.

Competition Schedule

Coming up to Christmas most people start to think of families, so with this suggestion from Matthew Clegg, we will feature the Jacksons and Jackson Five, Bee Gees, The Corrs, The Nolans, Five Star, The Osmonds, The Isley Brothers, The Pointer Sisters, and Sister Sledge. The prize years will therefore run from 1970 to 2004.

Please note the use of the Bee Gees, you may recall I mention them for the Der Beat Club competition, after looking in to it closer I will be taking them and Kraftwerk out and including T. Rex, The Moody Blues and Manfred Mann.

Next time I will be announcing the Christmas / new year competition and it is a cracker!
