Current Competition Today, Sunday 8th July, we have gone back to prize years and have started the Five In Five Out competition. The maximum year range for UltQuiz is 1960 to 2006, so 5 in is 1965 and 5 out is 2001, bare with me. Hence the new range is 1965 to 2001. Well it seemed like a good idea at the time. Now the new strategies are in place this makes this competition particularly interesting. The winner will get the £25 cash prize and the bonus prize of the OCC goodies (see http://www.ultquiz.co.uk/prize.php) will be awarded to the highest placed player who has not won a first prize or the bonus prize (sorry Neil). The votes have been received for the favourite 5 year range and the third email and fifth for that matter both wanted 1985 to 1989, so that's what it will be. Thanks to both Si Harris and Stewart Lennox for choosing these. Winners and Rankings Stewart Lennox did incredibly well again like last time, but because you are only allowed to win the cash prize once in 60 days, according to the new terms and conditions, he is not eligible, so the cash prize winner is the second placed player and is Gary Egan from Northants. Gary now wins his second first prize, his first win was way back in September last year and was UltQuiz's second competition since going on-line. Gary joined UltQuiz in August last year. As Stewart, Steve, Si, Howie, Gary & Neil have all won first prizes or the bonus prize previously. Michael was very close last time at winning the bonus prize but just got pipped by Neil Morrison just as I was writing the last newsletter. Michael joined in November last year and previous best run was coming second in late March's Single Years competition. Well done Michael. Game News Some of you may have experienced some problems with the game, i.e. hangman freezing, undefined's appearing and N/A on the clock. Please note these problems are rare and are being looked at, I will give you an update when we have fixed them. However there are some checks you can do yourself, which may ease some of these problems. With the Spice Girls re-forming I thought it would be a good idea to do an artist bias on the Spice Girls. For this competition you will need to answer questions on The Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie C. Please note Melanie B only had 5 hits and Victoria Beckham only had 3 hits as solo artists credited to them and you need 6 hits or more to qualify as a special artist. My favourite artist theme is your chance to vote for up to 5 artists that you would like to have questions on. Any artist chosen must have had at least 6 top 50 hits in the UK singles charts to qualify. If you can think of a theme for artists, like New Romantics, Genesis and solo artists for example, or just pick 5 of your favourite artists, then reply to this email. Please include a reason why you chose them and the most creative one will be picked.
