Current Competition

Tonight at midnight, Tuesday 26th June, we will start
the Class of 84 competition. In order to win this one you must get the
highest artist bias points by the closing date of Saturday 7th
July.
In 1984 the best selling groups of that year were Duran
Duran, Wham!, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Culture Club, and these 4
groups are the artists in play in this artist bias
competition. Choose the highlighted artist on the artist selection
screen and then answer all 3 questions correctly to get an artist bias
point.
Please note there is no prize year button in play, you can
still have any year range.
Word of warning FGTH have had a lot
of remixes and re-issues so look at the song titles
carefully.
My favourite 5 years have been announced for the
newest future competition. So if you have a favourite year range see the
Competition Schedule for further details.
Winners and Rankings
It was a tough battle between our reigning champion Stewart Lennox
and Steve Cann over the last couple of weeks. But Stewart comes out
the overall champion once again, but now that winners are only allowed to
win once in any 60 day period, and Stewart won last time, Steve Cann
from Berkshire wins the £25 cash prize. For the scores and prizes see
the link below :

The
bonus prize goes to the highest positioned player who has not won a first
prize. Looking further down the hall of fame here is the list of former
prize winners, in the current Hall of Fame, and then the new bonus
winner.
Paul Gilbert (former 00s
winner) Howie Ross (former tri-competition winner, All
Years, 80s and OCC
Goodies) David Longstaff (former OCC Goodies
champion) Si Harris (former tri-competition winner,
Single Years, Player's Choice & The First Freestyle)
So the
first bonus winner is Neil Morrison from
Northamptonshire. He is incredibly new to UltQuiz and in fact only became
a member 9 days ago. Neil will be sent the NME Top 100 Singles
Book and OCC DVD Game / Party Tracks. For further details and
pictures of this week's prizes see this link.

The
last few weeks I have been saying the rankings would be based on the score
and not the artist bias points, well after looking at this it makes the
rankings too confusing, so I take it all back. The rankings will show the
same as the hall of fame, in other words in order of artist bias
points.
1 ( 1 ) Stewart Lennox 2 ( 6 )
Steve Cann 3 ( 3 ) Paul Gilbert 4 ( 8 )
Howie Ross 5 ( 9 ) David Longstaff 6 ( 2
) Si Harris 7 (NE) Neil Morrison 8 ( 4
) Michael McCarthy 9 ( 5 ) Gary Egan 10(NE) Shaun
Cuthbertson
Where NE is a new player joining UltQuiz.
Game News
The game strategy is finally here and this means no more of the really
big scores. Timings have been changed as well so as you go up the levels
the time gets less.
The main strategy change is that you will not
get bonus live squares anymore. A new game board only has two bonus points
and an 'Up A Level' square. You can still earn an extra life on each game
board but only if you complete every square and then go Up A Level. Please
note, complete means use the square, you do not need to answer every
question right, but you will need to get at least 2 out of 3 questions
right on the regular squares to keep your lives, or answer the hangman
question correctly. Make sure you do not snooker yourself, as when you use
the whole game board you have to strategically move around the board so
you always have a square available to move to after you
have completed a square.
