Current Competition

Unfortunately the artist bias work is taking a little longer than expected, so we have brought forward the next competition, freestyle. Freestyle basically means no restrictions, the prize goes to the top score of any year range, even single years. In the past we have seen some really high scores, so here's hoping for more of the same. This could also be the last time of the larger than life scores as well, more on that in the Game News section.

Please note the prize years button will not be shown for this competition.

Winners and Rankings

Stewart Lennox, from Suffolk, retains his number 1 ranking for a 3rd week and picks up his second competition win for chosing 2002 to 2006 in our Last 5 Years competition picking up the cash prize. He scored 94,950.

Paul Gilbert from Cambridgeshire, who was leading for most of the first week, comes in at second place and jumps a place on the rankings. He collects £5 worth of free credits. He scored 81,750.

Howie Ross from Middlesex, comes in third, also jumping a place in the rankings. He collects £3 worth of free credits. He scored 47,620.

This time 18 players qualified for the hall of fame, here is the top 10 ranking with the last competition's position in brackets. Please note when artist bias starts the rankings will be based on the overall scores, not the artist bias points.

1  ( 1 )  Stewart Lennox

Where NE is a new entry, and RE is player coming back into the rankings.

Game News

Artist bias, as mentioned earlier has been put back a fortnight, but this also gives us the opportunity to address the strategy of the game as well, so when we start artist bias (now scheduled for 10th June) we will change the way that extra lives are awarded. You will only be able to get an extra life if you complete all the squares on a game board (25 squares), and then successfully go up a level. This will reduce the larger scores and allow some of the other players a fighting chance of a prize win.

Site News

Unfortunately over a week ago a spammer managed to compromise our 'Contact Us' form and as a result has been sending out spams that look like they are coming from ultquiz.co.uk. Please note that we only send out emails from mike@ultquiz.co.uk , info@ultquiz.co.uk or newsletter@ultquiz.co.uk . If you receive emails from any others then this is NOT us. As a result of this we have had to take down the 'Contact Us' form. This will be re-instated soon, when we have tightened the security on it.

The contract with Netbanx comes to an end on 31st May, so thereafter we will only be taking payments from Paypal. This makes it easier as a single point of payment. Please note PayPal accept credit card payments, money transfers, and may other forms of payment.

Competition Schedule

27/05/2007 - 09/06/2007 -- Freestyle
10/06/2007 - 23/06/2007 -- The Beatles and The Stones
24/06/2007 - 07/07/2007 -- Class of 84

The Beatles and The Stones, our first artist bias competition, will give you artist bias points when you answer sets of 3 questions correctly on The Beatles, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, The Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger.

In 1984 the best selling groups were Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Duran Duran, Wham! and Culture Club. These 4 artists will be the focus of the Class of 84 competition. If there is a tie on the artist bias points then the overall score will be taken into consideration.
