Current Competition

Today (April 29th) we have started the Eurovision competition. The chosen years are 1981 to 1997, and these are the years that the UK last one the Eurovision Song Contest. With Bucks Fizz 'Making Your Mind Up' in 1981, and Katrina and the Waves 'Love Shine A Light' in 1997. So play these years to win this fortnight's prize. The winner will be announced on the Sunday morning after the actual Eurovision Song Contest on May 12th. Hopefully we will have another UK win with Scooch 'Flying The Flag (For You)'.

The current prizes are shown on this page :

Thanks to Si Harris (our former triple competition winner) for coming up with this idea in player's choice. You can also suggest year ranges you would like to play, just send an email to info@ultquiz.co.uk.

Winners

First off, special mention to Stewart Lennox (from Suffolk) who scored 151680, but as he did not choose the last competition's prize years (1960 to 1979) he is not eligible for the prize.

So first is Christopher Hallinan (from Staffordshire), he scored 61660. Christopher only joined last Wednesday and has shot straight to the top. Well done and he wins £25 cash.

2nd place goes to Howie Ross (from Middlesex), he scored 34520. Howie has been a regular since November last year, and now claims his 3rd free credit prize, since we started offering them in February this year. Howie has also now won 3 competitions. Howie wins another £5 worth of free credits.

Special mention to Matthew Clegg for coming 4th overall, but as he did not choose the prize years he is ineligible for the current prize. He did manage to score 21280.

So 3rd place goes to David Longstaff (from Cleveland), he scored 20210. David has been a regular since the on-line game started in August last year and has clocked up one competition win, and 2 free credit wins. David wins £3 worth of free credits.

Please note both Stewart and Matthew got some very good scores by choosing the 80s as their chosen range, so they may fair better with the new Eurovision competition (1981 to 1997).

Game News

Artist Bias is to appear shortly. Every few weeks we will feature a bias artist or group of bias artists on the first square of the artist selection screen. If you choose that artist and answer all 3 questions right you will get an artist bias point. For artist bias competitions the winner will have the most artist bias points regardless of the overall score. The overall score will only come into play when there is a tie on the artist bias points.

We will also be looking at the game strategy soon, and this will open it up to more players. We will be reducing the time on the higher level questions, and only giving bonus lives if all the squares are completed on a game board. More on this when this is implemented. This will make the scoring much closer and lead to more exciting competitions.
